Well, I think the result here speaks for itself. In Adobe Audition, you can also combine Adaptive Noise Redution with other effects in the Effects Rack (which you cant do with standard Noise Reduction). Such noise is common on recordings such as old vinyl records and on-location recordings.
But it couldn't really get this LP right. Use the Click/Pop Eliminator effect (Effects > Noise Reduction/Restoration) to remove microphone pops, clicks, light hiss, and crackles. Select Effect > Declicker and adjust Threshold and Complexity, or choose one of the Presets. Go to Window > Diagnostics to open the Diagnostics window. I always used a shareware program for that, which does a very nice job (wavcor). In Audition, select the section of audio you want to fix. And in Audition I never could get the hang of the declicking it was always too little or too much. Either way, I think the difference is astounding.įor example the fact that you can ask it to find the (loudest) hum for you and then almost surgically remove it is such a nice feature. This is because while the masks are static, the contents of the video are. Even when the MEDIAN effect is applied with masks, you may find that the denoising effect is applied to parts of the video where noise reduction is not needed.

I am sure that if someone were to spend more time on it they could do a better job. Noise reduction in Premiere Pro does not always yield the best results. Both tracks start with a few seconds of the gap between the tracks on the LP. Below an example of "before" and several rounds of declicking, dehumming and denoising later, the "after". Addendum: I did however find the Sony version of the NR 2. I would suggest contacting Magix customer service. The raw audio already sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, with some slight echo/reverb, so now theres no BG noise but the remaining audio is very tinny.
However, this effect can leave the audio sounding a little hollow. I recall there is an option in the SF Pro 12 installer menu. Now Im reducing that in Audition using the Noise Reduction effect, and its actually working pretty well.

I do not know where to download it though since Magixs acquisition. Since it is a 12" 33 1/3 I suspect the LP itself is from the 50's. The Sony NR-2.0 Direct X installer may register successfully. From my mother I inherited an old Bunny Berigan LP: Bunny Berigan Plays Again (RCA Victor LPT1003). Once you see what it can do.you will not be using anything else for noise reduction IMHO.I have been trying RX4 (standard) and you are absolutely right! I am really very impressed.
